As the days roll on, and I think of all the things we (I mean, I) need to do before we head "east", I become overwhelmed. I get caught up in thinking about cleaning out the house, getting passports, visas, the dreaded shots!
Then, days like today remind me that I have no reason on heaven or earth to be overwhelmed.
This morning, I get the news that a precious couple who taught with me at QHS lost their daughter unexpectedly this morning. A friend from our church family in Texas is back in the hospital, sitting beside her husband's bed as he battles cancer. Another friend from college is visiting her family in GA. Her son falls from a zip line and is airlifted to a hospital with broken ribs, rupurted ear drum, and bruised lungs.
I have no reason to be overwhelmed. I too many times take the small worries of life and make them mountains. And, I underestimate the power, love and strength that comes from my Heavenly Father! He can help me get through anything!
This morning, my Bible Fellowship class of middle schoolers continued our study through Josh McDowell's book, "Unshakeable Truth". The chapter we were on talked about the protection and provision of God. So many people today want Christianity to give them a stress-free life, with no tragedy, hurt, or stress.
But, we live in a fallen world. Therefore, God doesn't prevent us from going through trials. He promises to carry us through them.
I have so many blessings right now. Yeah, we have had a tough year. We lost my father-in-law and a dear family member who was also a very close friend! But, we have seen God's hand in every step we have taken.
And, I see Him working through our little move across the globe. I feel He has something great for us over there. He knows the desire of my heart....to have my family all under one roof again.
He knows ME! And....He cares about me like no one else!
Don't worry yourself over the small stuff. God's got it!
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
