Goodbye's are so hard!

We are having to say goodbye to a precious couple from our church family. They will be in the country for a few more weeks, but this was their last Sunday with our worship group.

We had the crew over today for a farewell get together to say goodbye. :(

It is always hard to say goodbye to people you grow to love....but we know God is planning great things for them! We love this church family so much! They have been a rock for us during this time in Korea.

We also have to say goodbye to a wonderful family here on the compound. Their daughter is in Micah's class. I will miss this little princess so much....and her family!

Lunar New Year

I am behind on my posts, but these are some pictures of the boys from their Lunar New Year Celebrations earlier this month. They had so much fun learning more about the Korean holiday and culture. I love that God has blessed us to have opportunities like this!

So here's to another year here in South Korea! We love and miss everyone back home, but God is blessing us with some precious friends here who are becoming like family! :) (Another post on some "family" time next!)

One Year in South Korea

Last week marked our first anniversary in South Korea. We arrived the night of January 31, 2012. We never knew what this journey would be like we when first headed out.

To say the least, I was nervous. I had never flown, never been in a foreign country, and had two rowdy boys in tow. With lots of bumps, we made it to Korea.

It took some adjustment when we got here. We were dealing with a new culture, new school, new church, and Micah's speech/developmental delays.

However, God was with us every step of the way. He put people in our path to encourage us. He gave us opportunities to serve and love others for Him.

We have had our ups and downs, but we are more than surviving here.....we are thriving.

JC was able to make lots of friends and even joined some to perform in the school's talent show.

We got to explore lots of new sites, such as Black Pebble Beach.

We went to the dinosaur expo.

JC discovered one of his favorite stores, dot.com.

We found a wonderful church family!

The boys love living on the compound.

Both our boys had so many loving people be there to support them and celebrate
 big moments like birthdays.

And there were so many other highlights....too many to mention.

God has a way to show you that He has something planned for you that you never dreamed. I never, ever dreamed I would be in South Korea. Sure didn't think I would marry someone who worked offshore. I never dreamed I would have these two rowdy boys.

But I did...and I do. And when life gets hectic, I need to slow down and remember what I have. I am blessed beyond measure.

So, if you are stuck in a rut, stop looking at the negative in the circumstances around you. Ask God to show you what He is doing in your life now. He does have a plan. He just doesn't carry it out like we plan it.....He does it so much better!

Looking forward to another year here in Ulsan.............................
